McDonald’s Olympic pop-up sustainable restaurant

McDonald’s… sustainable? Who would have thought it, but now the fast food giant is showing its hand in a new drive to be more environmentally friendly. The McDonald’s pop-up, built for London 2012 Olympic Games in Stratford will be world’s busiest, but will only last for six weeks. The restaurant at the Olympic Park will be dismantled after the Games and 75% of it will be re-used or recycled.

Jill McDonald, chief executive officer of McDonald’s UK, said the move was “a world first” for the chain in its drive to be sustainable, meeting targets specified by the London Organising Committee.
