McDonald’s Olympic pop-up sustainable restaurant

McDonald’s… sustainable? Who would have thought it, but now the fast food giant is showing its hand in a new drive to be more environmentally friendly. The McDonald’s pop-up, built for London 2012 Olympic Games in Stratford will be world’s busiest, but will only last for six weeks. The restaurant at the Olympic Park will be dismantled after the Games and 75% of it will be re-used or recycled.

Jill McDonald, chief executive officer of McDonald’s UK, said the move was “a world first” for the chain in its drive to be sustainable, meeting targets specified by the London Organising Committee. Weekend Plans: Cooking with the Family

With everyone out of school for the summer, you’re likely to have a few extra eager hands hanging around the kitchen at dinner time. Our suggestion? Get into something comfortable, throw on a few extra aprons, and put them to work! Here are a few suggestions we collected from Pinterest that the kids can help make, and most likely eat!

Who wouldn’t want a cookie for breakfast?  These little gems cut out the bad (sugar and butter) and are stuffed full of the good (oats, nuts, and fruit)!

These little lasagna cups are easy and fun for small hands, and sneak in a hefty serving of vegetables.

We’re not sure kids will love eating these, but they could definitely help make these delicious zucchini boats.

Frozen bananas are a classic treat, and being covered in chocolate, sprinkles, and nuts are sure to make these a hit.

Lessons learned, as a startup founder: Don’t let a lack of creativity mire you in mediocrity. Everyone has it in them, we just need to figure out how to tap into it.

In fact, creativity isn’t elusive at all.  We’ve been conditioned, from a very young age, to believe that some people are born creative and others are not.  That creativity is innate.  Even the dictionary definition of creativity allows us to inadvertently perpetuate the myth.  The first listed definition for creativity is “the quality of being creative”, which lends itself right into our conditioned belief that creativity is exclusive.  The second listing is the more appropriate definition- “the ability to create”.  No matter how you look at it, that defines us all, in one way or another.
