Tensei… on the move

Bilal

Our friends at Tensei these past few months have been hard at work to give their fans talented music.  Their hard work has not gone unnoticed and are making strides with exposing their music.  Hitting the sound waves now is the Tensei Remix to Bilals “Robots”, one of the winners to a contest held by Bilal and Plug Research back in the Spring.  Giving their distinguished laid back, smooth feel to records,  Tensei succeeds in remixing another track with just enough pop to vibe out to. Recently the remix was premiered by the LA Times Pop & Hiss in order to promote Bilal’s show this past Friday.

This track is available now for download  and to listen via Soundcloud!

With more exciting news along the way, Tensei has signed on board with Plug Research!
This producing team will have its very own podcast coming up this year and their debut EP is projected to be released in 2012.

Tensei is on well on the move to creating their L3GACI. With talent to spare their well on their way to creating their culture.
Stay up to date on their movement via Facebook and Twitter. Don’t forget their many free downloadable track on Soundcloud.

Daniel……

Knowing where you stand is half the battle, wearing a L3GACI tee……You stand out no matter what! Not to mention, daniel is at the top of his game when it comes to massages, located in the tri-state area of New York, L3GACI likes to keep secrets of the most amazing artist, but we decided to let his talents shine. Contact L3GACI if your in need of a much needed massage, and we will see if this talented artist can fit you into his busy schedule…..no kidding.

Opposite of Us…

Another smooth track to add to our play list, out with new beats is “Diverse”, ‘Opposite Of Us Feat Meemee Nelzy Prod By Oddisee’.  Exposed to this new music, not making it on his “For All It’s Worth” ep, none the less is a moving track.  Touching upon a topic many can relate to; Being presented in life with two different paths for two different beings, knowing the paths can come back together, it may be a struggle, however it can work, if they work and put their past aside. A track about struggle, heart break and rebuilding can hit home with all.  Plug the head phones in on a rainy day and let the music flood your brain waves, let it shine light and meaning on your thoughts.

Catching up with Prosthetik Intelligentz

Over these past few months from our first blurb about Prosthetik Intelligentz, the network flow has only continued to grow.
Frequently filling each others twitter time lines, sending an email about new music or the occasional text to catch up, I have learned more about these men and they have certainly continued to grow.  Composed of  producer/engineer Bryson “B. Doom” Dumas and Lyricist Ezra “Ezzie B.” Baptiste, not to forget the little green alien, Hip+Hop, taking root in North Carolina however extending their reach to where ever their music will take them.

Currently splitting their time state side and over seas in Africa, they have constantly been reshaping their music and mastering their talents.  Producing new tracks and working on collaborations with other groups, their message to spread hip hop is being heard, with their release of “Investment,” the first released track from their joint “Sounds & Wonders EP” project, presented by Prosthetik Intelligentz and GravityMovement, we can only expect more L3GACI style from them. A funny trio and certainly talented took some time to get a little more serious with us and catch us up on their music and let us share it with you.

since we last talked what are some significant updates in the groups journey?

B. Doom (@doomgotbeats) has really went indoors and completely reconstructed and enhanced the quality of our sound. From the quality of the mix, track construction and mastery, our entire approach has been revamped for the better. We can’t wait to share the fruit of that process with you very soon! Ezzie B. (@mindmissiles) has been working to bolster our overall exposure, message and reach, as well as taking advantage of building opportunities with like-minded artists both near and far from Fayetteville, NC.

the summer time is a big time for groups, any exciting news on performances this summer?
The summer does always bring dope shows huh? 🙂 Well, Prosthetik Intelligentz will be splitting it’s summer between here in the states and abroad; mainly Africa. Our good friend Hip+Hop (@HIPplusHOP) recently decided to go on hiatus to the motherland and producer B. Doom decided to tag along. It’ll be an excellent experience and opportunity for him to both see the world of Africa, and create some safari-inspired sound because of it as well! The duo will continue to record and promote together as well as work towards a few new releases for you all! Hip+Hop will be bouncing back and forth between B. Doom in Africa and Ezzie B. in the US to make sure they are both remaining on task lol! You can chronicle his journey here: “The Marvelous Misadventures Of Hip+Hop

If you guys could pick any artist to work with, who would it be and why?
man… Picking one artist is kind of hard…. We’ve got ALOT of respect for all of the artists out grinding and trying to make a name for themselves today.. It’d be REALLY hard to narrow it down to one, even TWO names..

B. Doom: I’d dig working with Mr. Quincy Jones himself, along with Bruce Sweiden. JUST so I could see firsthand how the greats do it. I mean, I’ve made studying their sound, techniques and tips a ritual for myself as a producer/engineer, but to actually WATCH them do it… That’d be CRAZY..
Ezzie B.: As far as producers go, I’d like to work with Nottz Raw… He’s from back home in VA, and he’s ILL. I think it’d be amazing just to do a sit-in session with him. Or 9th Wonder even. He’s got a TEAM of All-Stars just right up the road from us in Fayetteville out in Winston-Salem; that camp had been causing ALOT of noise as of late.

Is there any advice you can share with musicians just starting out?
Just that if you feel like making music is something you REALLY want to do, meditate and find the REAL reason why first. Knowing why we do it is JUST as important to us as doing it. Hip-Hop to us is still a culture; our culture. We’re just trying to help preserve it. Knowing why you want to do it is very important.

What has been the bands most memorable moment on the journey?
When we get emails or tweets or voicemails from people that have listened to our stuff, and they wanna tell us how they feel about it.. That’s REALLY rewarding. Just to know people appreciate something we do enough to want to tell us, it’s HUMBLING. NOTHING, not an email,  voicemail or tweet goes unappreciated. Those have been the milestones we have along the way to keep us motivated!

If there is one thing you want your listeners to take from your music, what would it be?
Well, there’s two things actually:
1. That we mean what we say in our music. We don’t talk what we don’t live. It’s a little rule of ours. And-
2. We genuinely have lots of fun and gain such a release from doing this, it should be considered unfair. We LOVE making music for you guys and we love it even more when you guys love it!

How has Prosthetik Intelligentz continued to Create, Inspire, Evolve society
Well, we’re always pushing limits and seeking to unearth a little more truth than society normally allows, but we’ll let our next project “The Sounds & Wonders EP” (w/ producer GravityMovement) answer that for us. Coming Soon!

Lastly when can the north east expect a show from you guys?
Ezzie B.: I’m planning a trip for sometime this summer to come show some love to our Northern Allies! I plan on bringing plenty of demo copies, and a whole lotta ruckus and rah-rah, so I hope you guys are ready! Hopefully I can coordinate that trip with a period when Hip+Hop’s in town so he can come with and help me rock the party!

Speaking with Chris Sims… “Loyalty Is Everything”

Over the past few weeks I’ve gotten the chance to get to know an interesting cat from California, discovering himself and his musical roots in Midland Michigan, continuing to grow personally and musically, figuring out what he wants from his life and music.

While chatting with him and getting to know him a little more personal than his twitter feed, I’ve gotten to understand his job, healthy eating habits and background, and was able to actually get a chance to see a glimpse of the many different sides that encompass who exactly Chris Sims is.

Finding inspiration early from artist such as Timbo and Aayliah however evolving drawing inspiration from ‘meditation’ style music to even some alternative, following the likes of 9th wonder beats and Quest. He discovered he can turn his writing passion into a musical passion, taking encouragement from friends and now working along side of names already featured on L3GACI such as ‘Diverse’ and ‘Shade Cobain’ he only continues to grow his network. Growing his network, growing his music, growing himself.

“Loyalty Is Everything” – Yung Plus Anutha

Being apart of the company “Loyalty is Everything”, building collectively as a
whole building contacts and talent, has started to work closely with Chris Sims. Flowing creativity to create music and a Life style.  Yung Plus Anutha, an Entrepreneur and Entertainer having a L3GACI like spirit and attitude, being himself on and off the mic, letting himself naturally come out in his work.  Helping others succeed as well as himself, another L3GACI in the making.  Stay tuned for more
on Yung Plus Anutha and follow his team’s movement.
twitter.youtube.facebook.yungplusanutha.

Chris Sims, having a realistic approach to life, keeping him grounded, appreciating what he has and setting goals to where he’s going. Modest as they come, we at L3GACI have high hopes for his musical career. Only a short three years in the making still showing growth of those who have been in the game for a years. Lets take a look at Chris Sims words to discover more on his music, if you don’t know his words now, you will soon. Truly a L3GACI in the Making.

Coming from California to Michigan, how has that shaped your musical experience?

Well i moved out of my moms at 18, and i had no musical ability yet.. my journey actually started in a small middle class town knows as Midland MI,

What first caused you to get into the musical scene?

It was kind of random actually, i was 18 years old, it was my senior year of high school. English Class was 5 th period. i would keep poetry in my planner.. and one day a friend of mine saw what i had wrote.. he told me “You should rap this, My friend has a studio.” I was quite hesitant but went to see what it was all about.. I always had headphones in though Lauren, Music was my go too when i was feeling happy, sad, angry… i already had a passion for it.. but making my own was a whole new experience. It really was love at first mic.

Who has been a role model for you on your journey?

Well, when i first started the first Hip hop artist i talked to was “Diverse” he had making music like… 3-4 years already.. and i wasn’t even at 1 yet. we grew really close as artist and as friends.. so the respect and loyalty we have for each other is remarkable. 21, my In house Producer and Very close friend..more like a brother actually.. he played a huge role in creating my range as far as hip hop goes with certain sounds..and drum patterns.. he would push me to the edge 95% of the time.. we have been working for almost 3 years now.. so he knows what i like.. sometimes he re-sends some of the same beats i wasn’t feeling earlier that year..and suddenly i would be all for it.. so he’s another big role in my growth as an artist.

Now as of lately, i have added a few member so that roster.. someone that im building a strong bond with musically is an artist by the name of Yung Plus Anotha, out North Carolina. The dude is completely opposite of me.. you can tell he’s being himself on and off the mic.. realest artist i have met. He taught me a few things listening to his music.. as far as being comfortable in my own skin and just doing whatever the hell i feel as right on the mic.. and it works every time. the song that got changed my view as an artist was “It’s Real” it was the story of my life.. he say’s “Smartin up yung’n.. don’t let em simply you..get ya own identity & let’m recognize you.” There is a method to his madness.. and i plan to work heavy with him as well.. we motivate one another when it’s time to crank out the music.. “Loyalty Is Everything

Any influences that stick out in your mind and inspired you to pursue your music farther?

well, i listened to a lot smooth shit, Hip hop of course..but that was when Timbo, Aayliah, Busta Rymes, Dmx, EVE, Jagged Edge, Joe, Boys 2 Men, BONE THUGS played a huge roll as far as my sound when i play my slower songs.. that people like to vibe to. I hope you don’t hate me when i say this but i was never a Biggi or Pac fan.. my mother never listened to them.. so my influences are somewhat different.. As i got older i started listening to Tribe called quest.. a lot of 9th wonder beats… I listen to meditation music now, umm.. some Alternative.. I really feeling Cold Play.. lol and the honestly the people that push me most are the ones i work closely with now..
” i make music that symbolizing the moments we live”

Like other artist featured on L3GACI you have a style seeming to have a need to draw emotions from listeners, what do you hope your listeners to gain from your music?

Well i want them to know a variety of things.. the biggest would be to really try to find yourself. The question i was searching for, for so long was.. “Who Am I as a person?”  Through my music if you listen to most of my songs im going through life and putting my current emotions of experiences i was going through at that specific time. I want people to have fun.. i love to discuss my involvement with woman.. and make music about a few scenario’s i’v bared witness too. “Retrospecz” was kind of that variety when it came down to figuring out a sound and what my over all goal is an artist is. Im being myself and clearly that’s working.. so i plan to continue spilling my heart out some nights & having fun on other nights.. music is meant to hit a variety of feelings and emotions.. so that’s why i love to have variety on each project.

What do you bring to the table that sets your music apart from other artist?

Not worried about anybody above me..  Just in my bracket and who i see as my competition..  I think 1 thing that sets me apart is that I’m so indecisive in life.. and it helps my music. Currently in college and don’t know if i want to finish.. theirs always doubts, like every human being.. i see the world as a cruel place sometimes. Im a bit of a pessimist or realist. And i think that all comes out in my music as well… All of those things come out in my music. So i guess me being myself is what makes me stand apart from other artist.. theirs only one of me.. that should be a good enough reason.. Listen to what i say.. listen to my stories.. you will know who Chris Sims is…i promise.

I see you’re working with producers such as Shade Cobain, already featured on L3GACI, how has that experience been so far, and who else in the future do you wish to work with?

Shade Cobain is a very talented human.. everytime i BBM ( Black Berry Messenger ), he’s busy in the lab just vibing out to his work.. i love his sound.. his beats bring truth & some inner since of reality to my music. Im just trying to really wait for the right moment to make new music with him.. We need each others full attention to progress.. nothing can get in the way of his drive.. very talented.
As far as working with other producers..  trying to lock in “Sunny Norway” outta Chicago… 9th Wonder some day…  My Producer 21.. he’ brings the best outta me. Now artist im in the works with are Hope Wright, Chez Chit, those are two worth looking to collab with on a real personal level for this LP that is in the works.

What journey has your music been able to take you on?

It’s taking me on a journey of patience. This journey is full of stress, excitement, love, anger & frustration. My music has shaped me as the man that stand here before you today.. i don’t ask for much.. i know my priorities. I put the ones i love first and my music lol.. Im also less distracted as well.. i know what im good at. Musics also taught me to set goals for myself.. as an artist and in life… The journey continues.

As I’m typing this I’m listening to your mix tape, (currently playing on repeat, 2nd Sun) Retrospectz Mixtape, what has been your favorite part of creating that mix tape?

Actually there that was probably my most stressful body of work… but my favorite part of have to be just me in my studio alone..playing the whole thing from beginning to end for the very first time.. it was my body of work.. something i put time & energy into. couldn’t believe it. Only after 3 years of doing music.. I get so much praise on some songs.. I love that Mixtape so much.

Can we expect an LP or any songs avialble for purchase soon?

YES! “Light It Up” is available on DJBooth.Net its the first look off my LP.. Title TBA. im working hard and you should expect some promotions by Fall.

What are your plans for the future with your music, how far do you wish to see it go?

Honestly I don’t think about it.. Im a private, some what of a quiet guy off the mic.. i live a simple balanced life.. so all the craziness and hype as far as being famous goes.. I have yet to experience and however far my music goes.. I just plan to stick to my lifestyle and live peacefully.

As we always ask, What L3GACI do you wish to leave behind?

Well i expect my music to be my legacy.. The journey itself.. the understanding of who i am and what i have to offer as an artist and individual. i want to be remembered for all the hearts i touch.. all the smiles i bring.. and the excitement my music creates..i want to be remembered for making music that did all of those things..

How is your music Creating, Evolving, Inspiring society?

I can def say our generation has more awareness of the world we live in today.. as a society, i guess it depends on what type of listener I’m attracting. On and off the mic I’m more of an intellectual thinker.. so i hope that my music makes people take the time to stop and think about certain things in their lives.. & in life in general. The fun aspect of our society is they are just as carefree.. so i make music that symbolizing the moments we live
” i guess me being myself is what makes me stand apart from other artist.. theirs only one of me.. that should be a good enough reason.. Listen to what i say.. listen to my stories.. you will know who Chris Sims is…i promise.”

Having an “LP Focused” mind Chris is on the move. Staying on track he’s dedicated to dropping his first LP this fall. Already having “Light it Up” out for a listen and with his mix tape “Retrospecz” getting some buzz, his work is catching on. Getting noticed for all the right reasons and creating music for all the right reasons, like many artist featured on L3GACI, his music portrays a journey of many emotions that all can relate to.

Capturing these moments in time there is more to come from this up and coming artist. We see no limits other than that of what society sets and from our interactions with Chris, we’re learning he has the mind set to over come those. A mixture of pushing himself while keeping his cool, it makes for some interesting beats. Make sure to keep in touch with this L3GACI, for there are things to come… expecting his LP to hit this fall make sure to keep up on his social feed… you won’t want to miss this one.

In Rhythm with Dj Moppy

After networking with Chris Thomopoulos, better known as Dj Moppy these past few weeks, we were finally able to have an interview with him. Coming from chicago we discovered more of this unique artist, from his intriguing name to what his inspirations are, from his family influences to what he hopes his music can accomplish. We had a chance to expose the inner workings of this charismatic DJ, with a good attitude of “You do You and I do Me”, this down to earth gentlemen is on a goal to move listeners while constantly shaping his craft.

With each and every track he creates, the goal each time is to reach the soul of the listener. Crossing the genres of music to do just that, drawing inspiration from his family, listening to the “MTV” Genre. Pulling from Madonna to Def Leopard, even a little Bon Jovi, from Guns & Roses to Salt & Peppa . Later discovering more of the skate scene with Sublime, Grateful Dead, and Nirvana to Phish, Gang Starr, Dilated Peoples, and DJ Premier, when he finally got his hand on a turn table it was a wrap for him.

“Perfecting your process. However you do your thing.. Make it as awesome as possible.”

Now working with his crew Cutz on Cuts on Ustream he’s constantly practicing and honing in on his skills to bring fresh talent to the music scene. Wanting people to see music as not a popularity contest, but as emotions. Causing rhythm and movement, whether one is at a club or chilling at home. It’s all about the emotions.

Hoping to take underground music to the next level and make his mark on Chicago, he’s making noise to draw attention back onto a scene that should never been taken for granted or forgotten. Keeping real music alive, take a look at DJ Moppy’s words and become inspired to do what makes you happy, he’s producing a L3GACI, are you?

Dj Moppy, I always have the most random images come to mind with that name, What can you tell us about your name?

Haha.. Gladly.. My last name Thomopoulos.. “Son of Tom” in Greek.. I had some Moppy hair growing up.. (I can send you some pics that might make some people laugh, let me know?) A sister’s friend called me Tha Mop when I was in 5th grade… so 10 yrs old? I don’t even know where it got to Moppy, im sure natural progression of a name.. It has had so many variations I can’t even begin to tell you but for example.. Mopzilla, Moopy, Mopple -Titties, Moppenstein, Moe, MP…etc etc.. not as quite elusive a name as my Cutz On Cuts crew member Shazam Bangles .. But it gets a reaction out of people.. I think thats important in Entertainment..

After listening to your tracks, the team tries to define your style, but we can’t, what can you possibly define it as?

Awesome! I appreciate that! .. The one thing I try to touch on for each production is SOUL. Make the music come out of my soul.. Some times I am not happy with the product I am getting and keep working on it until it has that thing about that makes me feel good inside.. Thats when it starts to come together. I work with different genres because I like to listen to different genres, I think its as simple as that. As a DJ I try to cross genre bounderies so why not produce music from different genres.. I think thats the best way to become a great producer .. See things from different angles.

What have been your influences to bring you where you are today?

My mother likes to tell me I’m a great listener. I think that is my greatest influence. She has always had my back when I wanted to do something unique or different. My parents and Family did a great job they are all influences on me. I was the youngest in my family and when I was born in 1983 I had three older sisters ages 6, 15, & 17 .. I’ve been influenced heavily by them early on. I remember alot of Michael Jackson, Madonna, Def Leopard, Bon Jovi, U2, Guns & Roses, Run DMC, Salt & Peppa etc.. MTV music.. In 6th Grade Skateboarding took over my life. That introduced me to groups like Sublime, Grateful Dead, Nirvana, Phish, Gang Starr, Dilated Peoples, Pharcyde, DJ Premier, Rawkus Records etc etc.. Around 5 years later (2000) I touched my first turntables.. I was instantly jealous of that dude who owned those! I worked my ass off washing dishes and cutting fish at a local fish market to buy a “DJ in a BOX” setup.. (two turntables, a mixer, headphones, needles) all ready to go in one box for a reasonable price.. I went into a long spell of just wanting to scratch and being amazed at that alone. Hip Hop became pretty much the only musical influence for me till around 2006.. From than on its been learning about breaks and what Hip Hop Music sampled from my boy MTM and his crew the analog addicts, Picking up on House Music and what influenced Chicago House Music thanks to Yazi & DIZ & Jevon Jackson & Frique and even my Girl CK.

“We need artists that respect the past and want to bring the same integrity to the music as the musicians in the past did. If WE get on and make some noise in the underground and mainstream. We would show love back to the true heads that have been keeping real music alive in our society.”

Now I am influecned by my homies in my crew Cutz On Cuts (Shazam Bangles & RTST), Raj Mahal, Tensei, Push Beats, Abyss, Zainghis, Cos, they are on some next level Future Instrumental Downtempo yet Uptempo Beats… To some it up Influences keep stacking up from old to new creating an enormous list. Whoa sorry I had to go off like that that question was really open though..

How do you constantly continue to shape your craft?

I try to take my inspiration and be able to bring it out at any time. whether on the turntables or producing its a never ending journey to learn. I usually come up with my techniques by accident or watching someone else. So after I try that thing on purpose I can start practicing it and putting my touches on it. Thats what I think it is about.. Perfecting your process. However you do your thing.. Make it as awesome as possible.

“I think alot of people overlook how great of a situation they might be in and don’t respect their Journey”

So far what has been your favorite track to produce?

hmmmm.. I think I was in a zone when I made that Without Love Beat.. I’ve been in and out of production for years with DJing always been my steady focus. I took about 4 years off of producing to study DJing and music. I think when that beat finally came together it brought me back to the reason I started loving Music. It was just so warm and comforting like the first time I played out for a crowd that truly loved me for what I was doing. Just in the pocket grooving not having a care in the world as long as the music is good and the people are dancing. Thats what it made me feel like when I was making that one! .. & even when I listen to it now.

Where has you journey taken you on?

I think the best Journey I could have imagined! Life is truly amazing and I am so lucky to have the influences I have had to get me to where I am. I think alot of people overlook how great of a situation they might be in and don’t respect their Journey; And disregard the possibility that if they start something new or change something negative about them today it can change the future forever.

Any artist in the future you wish to work with?

I would love to work with Each and Every Great artist in the past. From Quincy Jones to Q-Bert. I have a progressive mind and like to think its all a possibility as long as I come through on my end and bring something great to the table.

I also hope to find and work with countless Up & Coming producers, Djs, Musicians, Singers.. I think we are in desperate need for some new blood in the music industry. Not only for our future but for past as well. We need artists that respect the past and want to bring the same integrity to the music as the musicians in the past did. If WE get on and make some noise in the underground and mainstream. We would show love back to the true heads that have been keeping real music alive in our society.

“People forgot what entertainment is supposed to be. Its not a popularity contest.. Its emotion.”

What do you hope listeners to gain from your music?

Some type of emotional gain.. Whether it makes them think of dancing in the club or hanging with their mom.. I try to put emotion into the music I put out and thats all I can ask back of the listener. Some don’t feel it and that is fine. You do you I do me.

What can you begin to define as your L3GACI

My L3GACI is where I came from, Where I’m at now, & Where I’m going…

How do you hope your music to “Create Inspire and Evolve” Society.

You said it BEST! “Create Inspire and Evolve” .. I hope we can bring Cutz On Cuts and keyboardists, and percussionist, and Pop & Lockers, Breakers, Ballerinas & Light OH MY!.. Make it like a musical circus.. As long as it is in Rhythm it can work! People forgot what entertainment is supposed to be. Its not a popularity contest.. Its emotion.

thank you again for your time and can’t wait for your responses.
