The Biography of Imani The Misfit

Imani the Misfit is an American rapper, record producer, singer- songwriter, keyboardist, drummer, actor and nude model from Maryland. Imani has been featured on Washington City Paper, Examiner.com, Adult Video Network (AVN), Bi-Social Network, Son of Baldwin, SGL Cafe and many other publications as well as over 30 internet radio shows as “Maryland’s First Bisexual Porn Star Rapper”. In December 2010 that title was later modified to “Maryland’s First Bisexual Rapper / Nude Model”.

Before confessing his sexuality, he was featured on Sheek Louch’s “From the Bottom to the Top” mixtape with his strip club anthem song “Belly Ring”. He was also featured on the “Ghost Ride The Whip” Mixtape, a compilation album that contained songs by Too Short, Lil Flip and many other rappers. He has had his music played in several nightclubs in the Washington DC area, as well as writing a jingle for Go-Go Radio, a hugely popular internet radio station in the DC area that plays “Go-Go” music 24 hours a day. He is also the keyboard player for “Tempo”, an alternative Go-Go band based out of Largo, Maryland. In addition, he is a featured X rated model on the adult website X Tube in which he poses fully naked and performs in various masturbation videos. His nude photos have been featured in TORSO, which is an all-nude male photograph book authored by Sean Dibble, and “The Male Image” which is an all-nude male calendar also authored by Sean Dibble.

Imani may be best known for his internet presence on social networks like Facebook, in which has been banned 14 times (As of November 12, 2010) Myspace, where he has over 60,000 friends, 3,000 subscribers on YouTube, and his appearances on websites such as WorldStarHipHop, This is 50, PA Palace, HipHopGame, Real Rap Talk, Sole Collectors, and Vlad TV .

Imani built a reputation for himself through the internet as an arrogant, intelligent, yet comedian-like character by promoting his music and pornography while taunting his peers in religious and social debates. It is his alternative and sometimes extreme views of the world that has helped to establish his buzz. His most recent and controversial stunts include his confessions of being bisexual, and the release of podcasts with titles like “Men Who Suck Dick Are Hot”, (which gained 100,000 views on YouTube before being banned) and podcasts with anti-religious titles “Fuck The Bible” and “Fuck God”, which have also been banned from YouTube. Additionally, in his hometown of the Washington DC area, he has been known for standing at Metro Stations and shopping malls wearing wigs and holding up a “MISFIT” sign, while selling his CD’s. On Martin Luther King Day of 2011, he released an essay entitled “Martin Luther King Was A Misfit”, which diagnosed the character of MLK and described the civil rights leader as a rebel. On Christmas of 2010, he released the music video for “Promotion Team” in which he is shown dancing half naked at the Arlington Cemetery Metro Station and also doing splits and cartwheels in front of the US Capitol. Although his reputation has gotten him banned from countless websites and blackballed from certain areas of the hip-hop industry, his persona has established a notoriety and lasting impression in the minds of all who come in contact with him.
